Arrival of the Pope

All pilgrims will gather to officially welcome the Pope to Rio de Janeiro for the World Youth Day celebrations.

This is often a big day, turning up early to get your 'spot'. A great opportunity to meet pilgrims from all around the world, play games, swap items with pilgrims and enjoy each others company before the Pope arrives.

In both Cologne (2005) and Syudney (2008) the Pope arrived by boat, in a spectacular display as he was escorted by many other boats full of pilgrims. In Madrid (2011) he arrived in his Pope mobile from an iconic arch in the middle of the city. How will he arrive and be welcomed in Rio?? We'll have to wait and see!!
