Madrid
Whilst the structure of a basic WYD week is traditionally the same at most international WYD's, each WYD is uniquely different and distinguishable by the culture of the host city.
Here are a few things that you might like to know about Madrid, that will impact on the type of WYD experience you will have in Spain!
- Madrid is the capital of Spain and geographically located in the centre of Spain
- Spanish culture is a very vibrant one
- Spanish people are very warm, outgoing and friendly
- There will be hot, dry temperatures (40 degree heat)
- Organisation in Spain will be uniquely European
- Timing of the day is different to ours, early mornings and very late nights, with time in the middle of the day for sleep and getting out of the heat
- Economic Crisis will still be a major factor
- Majority of Spaniards are Catholic and this has helped to form part of the Culture of Secular Spain as well
